Reba is a 14-year-old sorrel mare whose story is as heartbreaking as it is hopeful. This gentle soul has endured a life of neglect—forgotten in a pasture, left without food or care, and forced to fend for herself just to survive. Day after day, she searched for anything to eat, growing thinner and weaker while her spirit quietly endured. Her former owner simply didn’t care if she lived or died.

When we first laid eyes on Reba, she was a shell of the horse she once was—bone-thin, tired, and worn. But beneath the frailty, her eyes told a different story: there was still life, still hope, still a spark waiting to be reignited. We knew she deserved more.

Since coming to us, Reba has started a new chapter. She’s now on a proper diet, has been dewormed, and is steadily gaining weight. Her coat is beginning to glow, and each day she grows a little stronger, a little brighter. Reba enjoys gentle walks around the ranch, loves to graze in peace, and leans into every bit of love and kindness she receives. She’s not just healing physically—she’s healing emotionally, too.

When we took her out for a light ride, she gave us everything she had. Reba is beginner-safe, calm, and willing. She may be more whoa than go right now, but she listens, she tries, and she wants to please. She’s rediscovering what it means to be cared for—and she’s learning to trust again.
